Now that summer is officially in full swing, capitalize on those extra hours of sunlight to get an extra project done, do some housework, or just relax. The following list are suggestions for how to create an optimal daily routine for a healthy, happy summer.
1.Get outside at least two times a day
Whether it’s taking your dog for a walk or joining friends at the park, summer allows for ample opportunities to take advantage of nice weather and more daylight.
2. Set a summer goal
It doesn’t have to be a complex, massive undertaking, but setting a small goal for yourself can have great rewards. Some examples include study for certificate exams, learn to surf, train for a 5k, etc.
3. Enjoy the sunset at least once a week
This one should be fun! Getting out and seeing the sunset is a great way to unwind and disconnect from your devices. It only takes 15 mins and can have great benefits for your serotonin levels.
4. Avoid binge-watching TV or movies
Since the pandemic, media consumption rates have skyrocketed. With platforms like Netflix and Hulu constantly pushing out new programming, it’s easy to get sucked into the TV. This summer, make an active choice to put down the remote and prioritize other areas of your life.
5. Volunteer!
Whether is working at the animal shelter or spending your Saturday morning with kids, volunteering is a great summer activity. And you’ll feel great once you’re done!
6. Cook or gather with friends
There’s nothing that friends and good food can’t fix! Make time to try a new recipe together or learn a new cooking skill.
7. Be mindful and take time for yourself
This can take many different forms, but it’s important to take a moment to reflect every week or every day. Try journaling, hot baths, a long walk, etc.
Overall, the summer season is a great opportunity to start new activities and spend time with loved ones. Use the next couple of months to create personal fulfillment and happiness!
